Welcome. Climate Action Pedagogy (CAP) is an educational development program that supports teachers, faculty, and staff in weaving climate action into their courses and work. Developed by an adjunct educator and faculty development facilitator in higher education, CAP is based on the following guiding principles:
1. AccessibilityWe are not going to leave anyone behind in our climate action work. In fact, we recognize that many marginalized folks are the world's leading experts on adaptation in the face of extreme circumstances. Using generative framing allows us to meet all CAP learners right where they are and inspire them toward their next, best step. We design our offerings so that all of our learners can learn, lead, grow, and succeed.

2. Learning Experience DesignLearning Experience Design, or LXD, is a design methodology grounded in empathy for one's self and one's learners. Who are your learners? What do they want and need? Who are you? What do you want and need? LXD teaches us how to adapt to the reality of our teaching moment instead of using cookie cutter approaches to teaching and learning. As our environment becomes increasingly volatile, it's critical that we are well-positioned to adapt our pedagogies to any and all circumstances.

3. Emergent StrategySage Crump writes, "Emergent Strategy is amplifying the importance of the incremental to impact the monumental." Building on the work of author adrienne maree brown, we focus on the power of small. We take those small, strategic steps forward in loving community, because this work is not easy, and we need support. We recognize that we cannot save the world, but we can do our part. We reject education's obsession with scale, a tool to protect the status quo. Instead, we prioritize critical connections over critical mass.
